Gujan-Mestras is situated in the Gironde department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Situated along the Atlantic coast, on the southern edge of the Arcachon Basin, Gujan-Mestras is part of the COBAS (Communauté Bassin d’Arcachon Sud), which also includes the towns of Le Teich, La Teste-de-Buch and Arcachon.
