Beach and lifeguard service

Situated in the heart of the tourist district of La Hume, and right next to the marina, this beach is primarily a family-friendly spot.

Lined with tamarisk and maritime pines, the beach offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Arcachon Basin.

As the tides ebb and flow, enjoy a variety of activities: swimming, relaxing on the sand, shellfish gathering, a stroll…You can also make the most of the facilities on offer: play areas, picnic spots, a beach restaurant in season, paddleboard hire, and more.

Lifeguards are on duty in July and August from 9.30 am to 7.00 pm, ensuring that both children and adults can swim in complete safety.

La Hume beach is also a well-known spot for kitesurfing. A spectacular sight guaranteed!

A certified beach

La Hume beach has held the‘Handiplage Level 2’accreditation since 2008 and offers the following facilities and services for people with reduced mobility:

Reserved parking spaces
Accessible path from the car park to the water
A ‘tiralo’ is available to help users move across the sand and into the water
Disabled toilet facilities less than 100 metres away
Accessible shower with a hose
Assistance available for people with reduced mobility: Handiplagiste, in July and August.

La Hume Beach with a difference

There’s no shortage of sporting activities at La Hume beach.

Come and have a go at stand-up paddleboarding with Paddle Glisse from spring onwards. Head out onto the water from the beach, find your balance on that large board – it’s up to you!

During the summer, sea kayaking trips are organised by the Tourist Office. Explore the Gujan or Testerin coastline and discover the characteristic landscapes of the Arcachon Basin.

And let’s not forget kitesurfing! A section of the beach is dedicated to this thrilling sport, which can be enjoyed all year round. If you fancy soaring through the air on the wind’s strength, then this activity is for you.

For the less adventurous, enjoy a trip out to sea with our boat trips departing from La Hume harbour. Plenty of choice, smiles and fun!
