Situated along the Atlantic coast, on the southern edge of the Bassin d’Arcachon, Gujan-Mestras is part of the COBAS (Communauté Bassin d’Arcachon Sud), which also includes the communes of Le Teich, La Teste-de-Buch and Arcachon.
