The Tourisme & Handicap label helps to better meet the needs of disabled people, whatever their disability: motor, visual, hearing or mental, so that everyone can choose their holidays and leisure activities in complete freedom.

What does it involve? this label?

The label guarantees easy access to the establishment’s buildings and services, as well as a personalised welcome offering care and attention.

The label covers accommodation, restaurants, visitor attractions, leisure and cultural activities, and tourist information centres.

The label is valid for 5 years.

Gujan-Mestras Tourist Office is certified for 3 disabilities

The Gujan-Mestras Tourist Office has been awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label for 3 disabilities: motor, mental and hearing.

La Hume beach has held the ” Handiplage level 2 ” label since 2008, awarded by the Handiplage association. It offers the following facilities and services for people with reduced mobility:

  1. Reserved parking space
  2. A walkway from the car park to the bathing area
  3. Provision of a ” tiralo ” for walking on the sand and swimming
  4. Disabled toilet facilities less than 100 metres away
  5. Accessible shower with flexible hose
  6. Assistance for people with reduced mobility: Handiplagiste, in July and August

Disability and multimedia

Two main areas of use have been set up at the Michel Bézian multimedia library. The first aims to make the cultural and informational resources available when visiting the multimedia library (press, literature, multimedia information and communication, etc.) accessible to people with disabilities. The second provides access to the creative uses available in the multimedia workshops (image, sound, interactivity).

    • Motor disabilities: accessibility and special facilities, including adapted toilets, accessible rooms and reserved parking spaces.
    • Visual disability: adapted signage with information available in Braille or enlarged characters.
    • Hearing impairment: establishments can install magnetic loops for people with hearing aids / use visual aids such as subtitles for videos, clear displays and warning light systems.
    • Mental disability: information should be presented simply and clearly, using self-explanatory pictograms / staff should be trained to provide appropriate and reassuring assistance.
